Our Patron St Benedict
The name St Benedict was selected following a vote by Headteachers and Chairs of Governors from our founding schools who agreed that as the patron saint of school children, he embodies our vision to be a beacon of exceptional Catholic education.
St Benedict and Benedictine spirituality promotes and supports the Catholic life and mission of our schools because:
- The rule of St Benedict is a guide for living a Christian life through the practices of prayer, study, work in our community, hospitality and renewal.
- It promotes communal living of the Gospel in a socially responsible way and as a pathway for personal spiritual development.
- The promotion of the Benedictine values of wisdom, faith and virtue through prayer, study, care for our community, welcoming others and reflection and renewal across trust schools will make Christ known. This ensures that the Catholic faith is seen by students, staff and families as a living thing essential to bringing all in our community to the fullness of life.
The St Benedict medal will be used as a way to unify all schools in the trust to foster a sense of belonging, promote the importance of working together as a Catholic family of schools and to celebrate success.
